That's good.. But you should have had 3 keys that came with your car. 2 master keys(one with remote) and one valet key. All 3 will start the car, with the only exception, the valet key will not open the trunk.
The master key will lock the trunk by turning LEFT

Different states have different requirements for new cars they put on the lot. Not all states need the engine immobilizer. It is not standard on the Yaris and if you look at the options page it will say you need the power package to get it. Why don’t you look? The immobilizer is not a requirement in the States. It is probably possible (sure it was in your case then) to get a 09 yaris without immobilizer in some countries.
