The thing that gives me the heebie-jeebies about carrying stuff like that in a hatchback is that if you hit something, you're dead. I knew a young guy who got hit head on at a fairly low speed on a college campus with a cinder block in the back of his car. (It was winter and snowy.) The block hit him in the back of the head and smashed his skull, killing him instantly.

The seats in a sedan might not stop something heavy in a trunk, either, but it'll be at a lower height and will be restrained somewhat.

crazy. and to think i hauled a hatch back yaris (sorry no pics) full of bricks four times between home and Lowe's. I guess i was having a blonde moment. that will be the last time i do that.
