Push button start would be fairly easy to do. To really do it right would require a bunch of parts from one of the markets where it is available.
The problem is that for our USDM cars you would still need to stick the key in to unlock the steering. You could mechanically bypass the steering lock, but then you make your car a whole lot easier to steal. Also, the OEM system uses an RFID smart card (along the same lines as the key transponder). You'd really want to implement something like that to make the car less grabbable as well. |
