I believe around that point I stopped using neutral to coast, that was a biggie.

Around there I starting experimenting more with hypermiling as well. I started anticipating red lights and coasting longer, driving like I don't have brakes, taking off slower from starts, etc. Oh, and putting my tires up to 50 PSI, I definitely saw a gain there -- it was just easier for me to get 38-39 MPG tanks, where before I had to struggle to get them. For about the last 10 or so tanks I've also had an Ecometer, which has been a HUGE help.

I honestly never noticed a difference after switching to synthetic. Some people claim there's an improvement of 1-2 MPG. I say something smells there. Gas mileage fluctuates 1-2 MPG from tank to tank anyways. You'll never notice a difference even if there was one. I use synthetic because I change my oil every 7,500 miles now. =]

Again, Thanks for sharing the info on the reasons for increased mpg.
