So, the Old Tomster did a little math, and he was SHOCKED at the results.

If I drive my Jeep, I should get about 15 MPG, which would mean that I would burn 100 gallons of gas at let's say an average price of $2.55 per gallon. (That's a little more than what gas is selling for around here, but we are usually a little below the national average.) So, I would spend $255.00 for gas.

Now, if I drive the Yaris, I should get 40 MPG, which would mean that I would use 37.5 gallons of gas. That would mean spending $95.63 for gas.

BIG DIFFERENCE! I can't believe that it would cost me about $160 more to drive my Jeep!

I guess it will be the Yaris, and I will just have to put some old sheets over the seats and be prepared to clean some dog slobber off some windows.

Tom

Thanks for the invitation, but I won't be in northern VA.

My sis lives in Wicomico Church, over east of Richmond, so I will be on I-64 across WV and all the way across VA to the other side of Richmond.

I hope I catch the leaves at their peak color as I cross those WV mountains.

you will. I was up in Martinsville WV on the weekend and they are perfect right now in the mountains. This weekend I'm headed up to Skyline Drive to catch the rest of the leaves turning and do a little hiking on the trails. have a safe trip

SUPER!

Hey, one of these days, you and I are gonna have to hook up. I enjoy taking short hikes (too old and fat to walk too far) and taking pictures.

thats why I take the short 1 to 3 mile trails on the Appalachian Trail. Let me know, I'm only 2 hours from Richmond and then its a short drive to shenandoah national park and the trails.

Did you ask if the dog was actually welcome? My brother just drove a similar length trip with his two Pitbulls and on his return said the inlaws werent to happy to be hosting the two dogs for a week,he also found out some dogs can get car sick.I'm not a dog person so its easy for me to say leave it at home or in the kennel and take the Yaris..
