Are you using recycled air or letting the flow through mode with your defrosters on. I find mine steam up if I am set to recycle the interior air. I also like to have the driver window cracked open at least a quarter inch. Both help with reducing the fogging effect. Turning the AC also helps quickly, but then your fighting the heater.

I see you are in Canada so it probably isn't an issue for you. When it is really hot in the summer I switch to the recycle mode for AC as it gets colder faster that way. Otherwise, I too prefer fresh air... unless fresh air is too hot to breathe.

I switch to Recycled air when I start to smell something foul IE a skunk or a smelly car in front of me it seems to keep the smell outside the car.
