March in Michigan? Pretty damn cold!
But the Yaris doesn't need the key to be held to crank. Just turn it and release. Otherwise, take it to the dealer, it's under warranty and they need to fix it! Cheers! M2

The car is under warranty right?
Book it in so they can have a look at the issue you are having, I also purchased a new Yaris (2010) but no problems with mine at all

I had a few more starting issues since posting, and we've had some really nice days weather-wise here too. So I called the dealer and scheduled it for service. Hopefully it's just a small ignition issue and nothing major. Also, my mileage wasn't as far off of the EPA ratings as I thought. For some reason I kept thinking I was supposed to get 35mpg city and 40 hw. Don't ask me why, heh. |

But do remember that mileage is lower in cold weather. As well as in short trips. And a quick idling warm up will bring your whole average down as idling gets you 0 mpg. |
