Toyota of Japan allows usage of 0-20W synthetic oil...I've already ran 0-20W on my car for a solid 4 month period...it's awesome and you can drive hard occasionally.

There is proof of pics of Vitz owners in Japan buying 0-20w and using it on their cars. It is safe....its just that, Toyota of America is always the last one to get a TSB out for it so then everyone believes it.

In other words, your engine didn't immediately blow up. I don't think anyone expected that. What I'm more concerned about is whether the first overhaul will come at 125,000 miles, 250,000 miles, 500,000 miles, or 1,000,000 miles.

And while we're on the subject of *change in policy*...I was on Amsoil's site today, looking at what products are available on their Yaris build sheet, I could have sworn that they used to recommend 0W20 for the Yaris, but not anymore, it seems. They listed two suitable viscosities: 0W30 & 5W30...no 0W20, no 5W20
