I got 3 in my car, including this one stupid one that essentially spills crap all over your electronics in your center console. I acutally think the Merc one looks pretty neat. I've seen people use the side dash pocket in the yaris as a cupholder? is that suppose to be one? i just put cards in there and whatnot

^^ Yup, classic Audi cup-holders. What a sad design. Must be great on the Autobahn.

Until only very recently, most German cars have had the crappiest cup-holders or none at all. BMW had flimsy ones that swung from the passenger dash to service the driver.

Their argument is that while driving, why would you have a drink?

Yep, when we moved to Germany in 1995 we had a brand new US-specs VW Passat sedan. The Germans were in amazement over the cupholder, a two-cup contraption that was bolted to the transmission hump on the passenger side of the car...

The way they reacted, you'd think it was the most high-tech piece of equipment on the car!

Also, the third-eye brake light was new to the Germans back then, so it wasn't uncommon to see them jump in surprise when it lit up!

Cheers! M2

There is a similar design to this in my old 1996 Tacoma pickup. I hated them because Cokes always sweated and dripped all over everything below the cups. God what a stupid design.
