I don't know about in Canada, but in the USA, min age for credit is 18. I guess it's different in canada. I've worked with partners up north, and don't recall that legality.

If you want to do the math, add up all your minimum credit payments on your max reported balance (highest balance ever) on your credit cards (from a
credit report), all other installment payments (ie car/home + taxes and insurance/12), or rent. Keep in mind a soft pull (like pulling ur own credit vs applying for a loan isn't the same... One will ding ur credit). All of those payments added together
must not equal more than 50% of gross income per month, including the new payment. Calculate the max payment to get to 50%. Also, your new payment should be no more than 30% of income. If those criteria are not met, you will be deep into subprime credit, and it will be VERY difficult to approve the loan.

You're looking at a $400-500 payment/mo, and considerably higher insurance... Bear in mind this will cost u a TON of money if u have no downpayment.

Even if you had the dealer install fog lights on your Yaris to make you happier with it, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying the Tacoma or the Mustang.

When I was your age I lived at home and always had to have the "latest" new car that came out. Then another model would come out and I had to have IT to make me happy, then another, so on and so on, and if I'd not done that, I would have a heck of a lot more money in the bank today.

Seriously. When gas shoots up Kevin, you'll beat yourself up for selling the Yaris.

Notice it's going against traditional trends. It's going up entering winter after being level all summer. One of the reasons is because of the weakening dollar.
We ain't seen nothin' yet. Hyper inflation may be coming.

Kevin lives in Canada where gas is already considerably more expensive than the States. In Prince Rupert, BC, gas prices are equivalent to about $4.30-$4.50 per US gallon!

So Kevin, what is it again that you don't like about the Yaris? Is it the styling or the performance? Something else?

Just trying to get a sense so we can try to help you out with ideas.

Here's some excellent examples of modded sedans. If you're bored with the sedan, try some of this and surely you'll fall in love. It will be more cost effective for you to do a bunch of mods than to get a Mustang, for example.

Kevin, I know you've probably seen most of these, but I figured I'd throw some together. How can you not love this car!?!?!

Here's some of my favorites...(hope the members here don't mind me posting their cars)

You guys ... it's a V6. Gas isn't going to be that bad. There are plenty other valid reasons he shouldn't purchase that car, but gas mileage isn't a really good reason. The V8 gets 26-28mpg highway. And still does cool stuff like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f23wRxvc_qA

hehe *drool*

So yeah, the whole gas mileage thing isn't a valid reason IMO, when the average Yaris is only getting 32mpg highway.

^ what about mine???

just kidding...

Kevin, Like Garm said, you can purchase from him. You really need to contact him directly and he WILL find a way for you to be able to pay for the parts. I know that you have difficulty with payment types with your situation. Are you registered on MI yet? Do you have Garm's email (mcroimg@gmail.com)? Hell, you could even do a money order and send it certified or through Fedex Envelope to him. Pick up a set of fogs and put out an APB for someone on either YW or MI to meet you somewhere perhaps on a weekend and knock out the install if you need assistance.

dude, at this point this has nothing to do with money. You are just spinning your tires to do anything different.

Just stop. Take a week at least and drive what you have. Think of it this way, you crash the yaris and no big deal. You crash something else that you just bought and it is just that much more money and headache. Take a couple years, learn to beat the heck out of the yaris, and after college when you have a real job you can buy something cool, and by then you will be able to drive the classic around a bit as well.

you are in the years when you should have an inexpensive car you can beat on. The yaris fits that perfectly.

and if you really want something different, get a cheap beater car. something that you can have some fun with, but that won't kill you to get into some trouble with. there are a bunch of fun inexpensive rear wheel drive cars out there that can be had for a few grand at most.

Yaris is decent looking and from bare stock I've modded it up abit it's just why make a car look fast that doesn't go fast, why try to make it fast lol I got owned by a god damn cavlier and sunfire on the highway just trying the cars limits out feels miserable even a corolla would of been sweeter. v6 has speed but not tons if what I wanted in the first place a yaris is like "...." no matter what lol and a cavalier is a 4 cylinder efficient in fuel yet goes faster and they cost like 3 grand lol, only good thing about my car is its brand new.

And I can drive pretty well I used to go to the track in my old mustang.

Also my dad drives a 2005 Toyota Echo, he even tried to get me to buy a 5 dr hatchback cause he liked it lol, and I endedu p with this because its the only thing he wanted yet when we could afford another in the first place.

As for Garm, How the hell do I buy that? I got no creditcard paypal is a dick with my bank I have no idea how to get my money to you unless Royal Bank of Canada exists there its shit.

And fog lights is my favorite part of a vehicle, and I dont have them plus winter fog here is so bad that its nice to have them.

Gas here isn't what you'd call cheap.

Pic is also my car if it matters. Last thing I added to it was a rear sway bar

hope I answered more questions I tried to summarize this. I also have a radar detector for a car that has 105 hp lol its ridiculos

Send him a message offline or here in the forums. He might be able to help you out with this situation. Who knows, maybe he'll accept a money order or something.

Trust me....you don't want a Cavalier! That's what I traded in to get my new Yaris. My Cavalier was the latest gen before they replaced it with the Cobalt, had 108,000 miles on it, it was a rusted out beater that got much worse gas mileage than my Yaris. My Yaris is faster too. You think a Cavalier won't suck up every spare dime you have? When mine had under 80,000 miles on it, the plastic radiator blew a massive hole in it, and right after I spent $600 for a new one, my head gasket blew...Another $1100.00.

And a year after I spent all that money, I traded it in on my Yaris and the dealer gave me a whopping $500 for it.

Kevin, what is this fascination with racing people from stop lights?

I know you're young, but what satisfaction comes from this?

You're either going to end up dead, in jail, or without a license. Just a matter of time.

If someone wants to race, just ignore them. No one is forcing you to race. Just start out slow like you're thinking about your fuel economy. And if someone wants to race your Yaris, then they are pathetic.

Even in my modded Yaris, I have yet to encounter anyone who wants to race me. It's just idiotic to do on public roads.

If you were to get a faster car, than this inclination to race is just going to multiply and it's really going to get you in trouble. What are you going to do in a Mustang if a Corvette pulls up beside you? If you had a Corvette, what happens if a Ferrari comes along? And even if you were rich enough to have a Ferrari, what if a Bugatti Veyron were to show up? Get my point?

If speed is such a big deal, get a motorcycle. No matter what kind of car you get, something will embarrass the @#($&@#$() out of it. Any bike will embarass a car, unless it's ridiculously modified to the point of lunacy. Even a basic commute bike like a Katana 600 (my first bike) would walk all over most sports cars. 11 second 1/4 mile. . . on a bike that all other bikers make fun of for being slow. You could buy one for less than $2000. After getting into bikes, I realized that ALL cars are extremely slow, unless you've got BIG money for something ridiculous. Learn to ride properly (and not like a squid), have the right safety equipment and gear, and you'll enjoy it far more than any sports car.

I've driven tons of exotics, and we even have a few in the family (which I occassionally borrow), but I'd take a ride on a liter bike (imported bikes cost well over $25K here) over ANY sports car, anyday.
