I think I figured out why he is shifting up a gear so much earlier than I have to... Stock rev limiter (duh). Take off the extra 800rpm or so that I am spinning and things line up. How quickly you forget what a Yaris is like when it cant rev.

My handy gear ratio calculator puts me shifting from 4-5 at 118mph, to be just short of the limiter.
With a 4.3 final drive and stock limiter you should be able to see about 106mph before the shift to 5th.

Now I see the first post saying a 4.7 final drive... Well it makes more sense, that would only get you to about 97mph before needing 5th - the 90mph shift to 5th in the video would be at 6000rpm.

*these numbers all assume a C50 trans with a 23" tall tire.
