i've bounced off the rev limiter countless times, as have MANY others on this forum, in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and i've tried my damn hardest to get it to do the same in 4th, but the gov kicks in too soon.

Unless you sit there and just sit in your driveway and hold the gas on the floorboard for like 3 straight minutes, odds are, you won't damage anything. Hell, it's suggested to go through a full range of rpms during a break in period to just ensure everything settles in correctly.
