Yes, if only those rare awesome days were not split up by endless weeks sitting in front of a computer.

Just got back from a visit at the warehouse we like to call the Toy Box. Twelve show/program vehicles were on the list to get crushed, including the sedan I mentioned previously, so we did a walk around with the Toyota guys to check them all over.

The exciting part for us, we are getting a complete drive-train from a Yaris sedan: engine, trans, axles, brakes, front sub-frame with suspension. It will be great to have these spares. Now we can look at really pushing the motor.

I was able to make an appeal to save one car, at least for now... The 5 axis Yaris roadster was on the crusher list. I told them it is way to cool to crush - especially since it was at Willow Springs with us and I know it runs and drives - I told them it needs to be added to the museum collection. They took it off the crush list, and are going to evaluate adding it to the museum. Fingers crossed it survives.

Since the trans came out so easy - clearly I have had too much practice - I decided to tackle another project, a new steering column. The stock column has a lot of resistance, even with the motor removed, and it is very heavy. So it will be replaced with a splined shaft and couple of heim joints.

If anyone is in the Rosamond, Calif. area this weekend we will be racing the Yaris at Willow Springs. Right now there are seven cars in our class, with about 30 in our group.

Best of all, snow in the forecast for Sat.

What pads do use for the track? I run into brake fade issues after just a few laps on Hawk hp+. What our your current spring rates? I bumped up my front rates after removing sway and fight instability during high speed braking , but it rotates fine eveywhere else now.

We are currently using Carbotech XP10 in the front, with stock shoes in the rear. Zero fade, and we have been using this same set pretty much since we built the car - we tried a few other sets at some test days, but ended up going back to the XP10 for all of the races.
I am not a big fan of Carbotech (long story), so I have been trying to get our friends at Hawk to build Yaris pads. So far no luck, but if the B-Spec class generates enough interest we might be able to convince them.

Current rates are 550lbs front, 650lbs rear. Using the smaller sedan front bar, this is a recent change, and it made a big difference from the center of the turn out. No rear bar.

No rear bar? People around here swear by the rear bar. Of course then I doubt they are running rates like that. The sedan front sway bar is smaller? I wonder if I can pick one up used.

Mind sharing what dampeners you're using?
Apologies if you've already said and I missed it.

Not much going on with the Yaris right now, for the most part our National racing season winds down this time of year, so we have a few months to prep for the Runoffs.

Had a little time to kill after watching Indy, so I installed the new Energy Suspension engine/trans mount:
