In need of advice on maintenance on my 2.5 yr old Yaris Sedan

eTiMaGo, as far as what exactly they said, I really can't guarantee that they talked about fluids but still, that is good information to know. The receipt is vague and just says, "Performed Power Steering System Service". I think I am going to request exactly what is "Performed" from now on.

landrym28, did you have any of your factory scheduled maintenance done at a dealer?

Madmax, I live in NYC and have no idea where I could find an honest, reliable, and reasonable mechanic. Do you?

My next question is, can I get away with just doing oil changes, tire rotations and factory scheduled maintenance from now on?

How often should I be going in for oil change and tire rotation? The dealer wants me to come in every 5,000 miles. Is that right? What about tire rotation? I've been doing tire rotations every 5-10,000 miles.

Sorry, Yari-Chan, I couldn't live somewhere with such Draconian gun laws; so I try to avoid NY state as much as possible!

Actually, I have friends that have lived in NYC and I thought it was the norm not to even own a car there since 1) it's so expensive, 2) the traffic's so bad, and 3) you can get anywhere on foot, bus or by cab!

Out here in Texas we have a lot of wide open spaces between everything, so vehicles are almost mandatory (they don't like us bringing our horses to work! ).

Seriously, I would ask some of your friends with cars, and barring that, maybe this forum. I use the one for this area all the time!
