Srt-4...

Well, I just traded mine in for the Yaris. The car's reliability is shaky. It depends on what you do to it. I suppose this would be the same for any car you buy. The SRT is a lot of fun. It is arguably the king of the FWD class. It is definately the cheapest.

Thankfully I have a good close friend that has the same SRT that I had right down to the color. I gave him all my aftermarket parts and he's taking it a bit farther. He just landed a stage 2 and is going to rock out with that for a while and then buy a new stage 3.

The BAD thing about the SRT is the dealerships and the service departments. My recomendation to you would be, if you're using the SRT as a daily driver AND are going to mess with it...DON'T! At least if you want to have factory support.

I sound like I never got any support from the dealerships. This is untrue. I had several major issues with mine, all were covered under warranty. It was the way I was treated that was my issue. At 3000 miles they replaced the turbo and manifold (it was stock). Looking back, it was only a stock wastegate actuator that needed to be replaced. Still, you think the "experts" would know that. They don't. If it doesn't say it in the service manual, it doesn't exist to them. The intuition of a one-celled organism is greater than the "service techs" at dodge.

I had various hose "pops", each time costing me $60 since I didn't have a lift and they weren't covered under warranty.

I had a faulty TPS sensor that on several occasions nearly caused accidents. It took me 3 MONTHS to convince the morons that something was wrong. It took me to drag the service manager out in the car and trying to put it into boost with stuttering, and almost stalling in traffic to convince the rubes to replace the TPS.

The stock plug wires had melted on me three times. They just kept replacing them with stock ones. I eventually had to replace them with Magnecor 8.5mm wires and an aluminum heat shield under the coil to stop the problem.

...Then there was the tranny. No one will believe me, exept those who drive with me, but I wasn't hard on the tranny. The dealership tried to weasel out of the replacement because I had no back seat and upholstry. It was obvious that I was installing a sound system. Dynamat extreme all over and wires layed out...The service writer even had the BALLS to tell me one of his "techs" had seen me drag racing at the local drag strip. I called him to task on that accusation. He backed down...and THEN he tried charging me for services that didn't need to be done with the clutch on the car. He overcharged me for labor on the clutch (since the tranny was already dropped under the warranty service replacement, there is no reason to charge 3 hours of labor for a MODULAR CLUTCH!). Apparently they just wanted to make some money back from me. The bastard actually tried to charge me to "resurface the flywheel". Okay...look. Normally that is cool. But go back and read..."MODULAR CLUTCH"!!!! It's a factory packed clutch/flywheel assembly! There is NO resurfacing needed. It attaches with 4 bolts! I know this because we did my friend's tranny with an aftermarket one from Performance Autowerks stage 2 tranny Clutchmasters clutch and Fidanza fly...AND I had the service manual. I actually had to bring it in and show him that there was no resurfacing needed!

*sigh*

honestly, I can tell you more, but the anxiety would kill me. The car itself was a dream. The crappy servcice was hell. I will probably end up buying another SRT as a track car in about 4 years. I LOVE the car. Don't get me wrong. There is a TT kit from Darrell Cox Racing calling my name...I just can't justify the anxiety and angst when I'm helping my wife through dental school.

I'm done.
