Other than the Autozone or Kragen/O'Reilly replacements, is there something a bit better for an aftermarket replacement?
This also makes me want to look into an oil cooling kit for my yari :)

I don't recommend doing this any more, I put a nice dent in my a/c line!

you have to take out a bolt anyways might as well take off the ac compressor instead of dropping the engine then the pump will clear i watched the way toyota did it..

I wouldn't do that, especially without a lift. When I used the prybar I didn't
Mess with any bolts..

Well now we know better. Where and what did you pry against? Besides the AC line I mean? Was it a case of PRY....quick wp out...PRY...quick wp in? I THINK I can control myself not to rush and think about what I am doing and so avoid ruining my car. Is it possible to get the old wp off then cut a piece off it with a dremel so as to be able to remove it? Perhaps there are extrainious parts on the new one that could be ground off to get it in there? Im like the people who cut jeeps into four pieces with a cutting torch to fly them in C47s over the Hump in WW2 then welded them back together again once they got there. Whatever works think outside the box. |

Bronsin, I pried on the center of the crank pulley, NOT the timing chain cover. You have to pull REAL hard whist sliding out the pumps. Those AC lines are thin aluminum tubing, watch out!

did my girls today. didn't drop the motor, but needed to pry it back about 1/2" to get the pump out and in. used a 1/2" breaker bar between the motor mount and the head. didn't need any force, the blocked moved easy.

When you said you dropped it 2 inches. Did you undo the the motor mount bolts?
