Keyless Entry Remotes are dead... now what?
I have a 2008 Toyota Yaris Liftback that came with 3 keyless entry remotes. One was the keyless entry remote they automatically give to you which I LOST. :( And the two others were a part of the power package upgrade I purchased at the dealership. Now those last two remotes are both completely dead. They did not even work well in the first place to boot.
I went to the Toyota dealership to see if I could get these things replaced since I purchased the extra care insurance package. They told me that they cannot do anything about the Toyota brand keyless remote I lost and they do not replace the aftermarket keyless remotes even though I bought them directly from the dealership. The toyota rep told me I could buy a set of 2 keyless remotes for $70 but he wasn't even positive they would work with my car. Can I get some advice on what I can do? Are there any keyless remotes out there that you guys recommend? I do not want to give the dealership the satisfaction of taking more money from me. |

did you buy the car brand new or used?
if you bought the car brand new why didnt you let them know the other remotes weren't working properly? when you say the other 2 remotes are"dead" do you mean battery dead? did you try changing out the batteries? are these remotes part of the key or separate from the key

We bought the car brand new and I did not find out the two other keys did not work until about a month ago when I lost the main key. In a matter of one month after the two other remotes died. And I think they are battery dead... but for both to be dead already after only being used for one month is ridiculous. I would change out the batteries but toyota did not give us any paperwork or info on these remotes. I cant find any info on how to change the battery. I am not handy and I don't want to just crack one open compenents and all unless absolutely necessary. And the remotes are separate from the key.

IS it true a chipped key costs like $150 to replace?
I just love the way consumers allow people selling them "what they want" to hang a "kick me" sign on their backs.
