I'd say buy some good snow tires and call it a day, like CTScott said, it's too much trouble.

I personally think all these electronic safety things aren't needed anyway.

I went with my buddy to pick up his BMW in NC once and had a first hand demonstration of it - more convincing. I understand where you are coming from though...
