iirc, FAS = forced auto stop. Essentially turning off the engine (put the ignition back on "ON" to make sure you still have the ability to turn and brake). It's a little more advanced. If the stop light has turned red way ahead of you, you can use FAS so you're not slowing down as much as you would with DFCO. You can come to a stop and still have the engine off, thus not wasting gas by idling. NOTE: you will only have the ability to have two or three good pumps on the brakes, so use it wisely. If you came to a stop, start the engine again, if not, bump start the engine in 5th. You can also use FAS if you're going down a hill to either keep momentum or gain some speed. FAS uses no gas at all vs the very, very minute amount of gas that DFCO uses.

If you know that the stop light is a long one, you can always shut off the engine when you've come to a stop.

If I remember correctly, dollar wise, restarting = 30 seconds of idling. So 31 second + stops with the engine off save money.

Brian told me it was like 7-8 seconds. No clue. I only turn off my engine if I know I'll be at a light for at least a minute. LOL
