That's what I'm asking....what is the best way to control the ECU? Can the stock ECU be hacked with some sort of tuner? or do you need a stand alone ECU?

AEM EMS series 2, piggy-backed to the stock ECU (stock ECU does start up/idle/DBW, the AEM does the rest including VVT control).

They should be able to. I have a PNP in the 2007 car, but at the time we built it the connectors were not available for the 2012, so it is hardwired.
