Willow Springs Double Rational
Off to Willow Springs for a weekend of racing with the 99 Yaris.
Hope to finally snatch the H Prod track record, which has been sitting at a 1:35.709 for ten years. This will be the first time at WS with the new Kaaz/Micro Image close-ratio gear set. I did a best lap of 1:36.417 with the old gearbox last year, so hopefully this seals the deal. http://www.calclub.com/html/html2/ar...hedule-Feb.pdf

Good luck this weekend! A lot of my former racing buddies from SCCA are at Roebling Road for the Tom Neihl National, looks like quite a few cars signed up.

Well the SCCA H Prod record is safe for another year. With winds gusting to 50mph on Saturday, and hovering around 20mph on Sunday, it was impossible to get any speed on the straits - and equally challenging to just hold a line on the track. With the high winds I was more than 2sec off of last years race pace.
Not much excitement during Saturday's race, and only the first few laps of Sunday's were even worth watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKumXY7J3oc Did get a chance to try a new tow rig this weekend. Our friends at Toyota gave us a Highlander Hybrid to test. I was skeptical about its ability to do the job, but it pulled like a champ. The run up to Rosamond, Calif., I got 22.6mpg, and coming down the hill on the way home it averaged 24.7mpg. Great rig, drove great and and the layout for driver controls is great. The only downside was having a little less space inside for tools and gear. I want to get my hands on the gas V6 next and see how it tows.

Wow that is damn good mileage for towing! My Tundra only get about 15-18 with my open trailer and drops to between 13-15 with the enclosed, which is like towing a brick wall.
