oil
it's just a little thicker oil during startup, that's all. The 10 verses the 5 value. once your warm up and going it's the same. I think it only matters in places where it's freezing weather for long consecutive days. in california you should be fine. My vw beetles call for 5w30 also but I use 10w30 during the summer, been doing that for years and now have 189k miles on the little bug.
