If it only does it on start-up then it is likely that the belt is not tight enough.

This, or it is too tight. if it's just about tight enough, try running a candle (literally) while it is spinning. the candlewax should be eaten away and it will silence the noise for a good year or so.

Had this same problem when replacing the belt. You have a lose drive belt

PRY BAR it tight.Don't go to the mechanic for something you can do yourself, free of charge and in less than 5 minutes.They will suck everyone cent out of you those garages!
