It seems like every battery I get this happens to, it never happens to the other 3 cars at my house. Is this just a common issue with our cars, or just a common issue with mine? I live in a hot climate as well, not sure if that plays into it at all.

I haven't seen corrosion on any of my Yaris. It may be the fact that you are purchasing non-sealed liquid electrolyte batteries, which are more prone to boiling over in hot climates. It also may not be a bad idea to have your alternator tested to verify that its internal voltage regulator is working properly. If it is putting out too high of a voltage (over 14.1 volts) it may be causing the batteries to boil over as well.
