Just take the drums off and clean the dust out. The squeak should go away.

Funny thing is that a mecanic from a local shop told me the same, he said I'll have to remove the transmision to lub it... . my biggest squick was when I press the clutch pedal, was making a huge squick! The toyota dealer fixed it for 28$.

Tranny squeak

Has anybody figure out how to lube the inside transmission clutch fork pivot area? I mean without removing major hardware. red arrows in this picture.

I also just oiled the yellow circled section and the problem went away immediately. When I had the car up on my ramps doing the gear oil I gave it an extra shot of spray from underneath too for extra luck. Unfortunately I used silicone spray because it was on sale for 2.50 a can and the white lithium grease spray was 8.99 lol.

Soooo, for the record, my silicone spray lasted only 1 day per lube. I sprayed with white lithium that I had to go back to the store and buy 5 days ago and its still not squeaking. Don't waste your time with silicone spray.

Does this also apply to automatic transmissions? Because my car has had a similar squeek for 3 months now ...

No. An automatic does not have the mechanism that this thread is discussing.

hey guys i just registered. im from the philippines and got a 2014 vios which is sort of a sibling of the yaris. found this thread due to a squeak in shifting gears (manual). so anyway thanks to the thread starter my problem got a quick fix instead of lining up in the dealership. i used an ordinary oil lubricant with paintbrush and glazed the joints.

the cause of the squeak, as recalled, was by engine wash. some newbie overdid it using a pressure wash. so a tip out there for squeaking shift gears after an engine wash, the grease from the shift joints inside the engine bay must have absorbed some water and in the process pushed away some of the lunricants.

hope this reply helps.

super thanks to this thread!

No, the auto gearbox does not have the clutch lever. Must be something else.

I just stuck a straw in there from a can of lithium grease and sprayed. I also sprayed it on all the shift linkages on top of the transmission. My squeak went away and has been for a couple months now.

FWIW I had a squeak when i'd depress the clutch pedal

ok

oh okay, I was skeptical about doing that cause you don't want to spray the clutch disc or something that'll cause more harm or start slipping. I was thinking if maybe I can get a camera probe in there to see what specific parts to lube or not.

I just made sure I didn't direct the straw directly in the direction of the clutch. Haven't had any issues since.

When I swap out my flywheel and clutch this summer i'll be adding a lot of grease to that area to ensure no sqeaking happens again.
