^^^^^ I actually wish prices would go up quite a bit until Obama is out of office because a federal cap and trade bill would have less chance of getting through Congress, as the populace might be more motivated to complain. Of course congress may shoot itself in the foot in the interim if the rumors that the TPP would establish a 12 member panel (POTUS + 11 leaders in other nations) that would be empowered to make decisions in a number of areas that are now (at least re the U.S.) under the purview of Congress.

Slightly off the topic but did you see this?
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...e-tax/2608067/

Unfortunately a more likely source of road repair funding, because we'll all driving more efficient cars.

I first heard about this in 2013. The last I heard, Oregon is almost ready to start a pilot program. I almost mentioned this plan/activity on the 'May 2015 Yaris Sales are Up' thread, but I didn't want Thirty-Nine to possibly feel that I was insulting his state/beautiful metro area. IMO, if personnel costs were lower, such entities would have more money for roads, bridges, repairs (as long as a separation is not required by law...example in Texas = money for the physical plant/construction of schools vs money actually spent on education). It is my understanding that San Bernardino, CA is mulling over privatizing the city's workforce in order to avoid another (2nd) bankruptcy.
filing.

IMO, the meters are too much of an invasion of privacy. Get mileage information the way Texas does, except make smog inspections mandatory statewide each year. Private inspectors in Texas are currently hooked up to the state online and are required to enter the odometer reading. If out of state driving is an issue, use a lower rate per mile that would be as fair as possible.

Makess sense we have to pay for the roads and bridges we drive on.

Its the implimentation of the means to pay for it that might be the rub.

Yup it's crazy. That's what high taxes and a refinery in need of upgrade does to us. Most of our crude is imported from Venezuela (w/concessions) and from what I'm hearing would be more expensive if imported from elsewhere.

No, actually not sure what percentage drives. I only know that percentage is steadily increasing.

Gas here is at 2.94 a gallon now. Possibly due to the 4th coming up since it jumped 20 cents.

Paid $2.93 9/10 per gallon today in Manteca, CA. Cheapest credit card price (and tied for cheapest overall) in a 9 city area (Sam Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore, Tracy, Manteca, Lathrop, Stockton, Lodi). First time I've paid under $3.00 in weeks. Down the street from where I paid $2.93 9/10.....$3.59 9/10. Top of the range for the 15 lowest prices of any of those 9 cities.....$3.63 9/10 for 87 octane.

Gas is going up in at least some parts of Northern California. The tank after the one above ^^^^^ I paid $2.95 9/10 per gallon in Lodi. The tank after that I paid $3.07 9/10 in Manteca, and the tank after that (today) I paid $3.15 9/10, again in Manteca. All of these prices = 87 octane.
