I'm sorry he's dead, just like I'm sorry anyone (not quite) dies before their time. But this cult of celebrity is tedious, to say the least.

Without launching this thread into a mudslinging socio-political debate, I do agree with you. However, I feel badly for him and his family and friends. From the reports of it, it could be drug related, which is very sad. This is especially true since apparently he most recently had an awakening with regard to the perils of alcohol and drugs. In the end we are all fallible and feeble on this Earth and we all make mistakes. RIP Prince.

Someone who seemed to know him very well said on the news this am that Prince did not do alcohol or drugs.

It has been reported that he overdosed on Percocet and then had to get a "save me" antidote medication, hence the emergency landing. So drugs were definitely a factor in the days before. You don't overdose on Percocet if taken as prescribed.

Even as the creator of this thread, I have to say that I largely agree. However, every now and then an individual comes along whose impact on the world that they occupied will be felt decades after they've departed. This man was one of those individuals.
