Just a guess, but try pushing the DISC button after you have plugged in your aux device. Some of the OE radios have a button labelled DISC/AUX and this is the way you switch to the AUX input.
If that does not work, you may have to tear down the center console and see if the other end of the AUX wiring is even connected to anything.
