Not worth the hassle. It's a $10 part from your local dealer. Replace it.

That's what I've always done for my Hondas. This is my first Toyota. I may just do that. We'll see. I'm trying not to break the parts bank with this car.

Do you happen to know if there is a spring in Toyota's PCV valve for the 1NZ-FE, or just a simply check valve? I'm more inclined to replace PCV valves that have a spring due to the spring relaxing with age.

It's been 2 or 3 years since I replaced it and frankly don't remember. But I'm fairly certain it's just a check valve. There just wasn't a significant price difference between aftermarket and OEM....especially when you're taking about a $10 part.

clean

once a year just remove, clean with denatured alcohol or contact cleaner and put back.
