Definitely looking into something to save money in the future. I'm thinking a BMW i3 ReX Extended Range or Chevy Bolt to help our new solar panels pay back their keep faster.

Drove a bunch of cars this weekend and these are my impressions in a nutshell:

Mazda CX5 - Handsome, solidly built car that performed well and felt surprisingly sporty. Motor is bit noisy under acceleration, but car is quiet at cruise. A nice car if you’re looking for sporty, not luxury ride.

Mazda CX3 - Wanted to check this car out, but no dealer had one to test drive. Two dealers told me they didn't have the car, not because they were sold out, but because they simply don't sell.

Honda CR-V - Not the best looking sheet metal design. Interior is pleasant, but rather bland styling. Car drives well, good handling, and pleasant ride. Nice but BORING. Didn’t get me excited like a new car should.

Honda HR-V – Front and rear design looks good. Side view leaves a lot to be desired. Interior looks and feels cheap! Noisy motor, sluggish transmission, mediocre handling, uncomfortable seating. Hated the car.

Nissan Rogue Sport – Really handsome car. Nice interior design. Motor and CVT were surprisingly well matched. Decent acceleration and handling. Sporty. Not a lot of tech crap in the base model. I really liked the car.

Toyota RAV4 – Redesigned front end is fugly. Good acceleration and handling. A very civilized car that does everything well. Interior styling is in desperate need of a redesign. Front seats don’t provide good lumbar support. Just didn’t feel like a new car.

Buick Encore – Feels solidly built. I like the exterior styling. Nice paint. The interior looks like a luxury car with nice materials and features. Turbo motor and 6-speed transmission work well. Not the quickest car, but more than adequate. Handles nicely. Very comfortable front seats. Base model has tons of standard stuff. Quiet, quiet, quiet. Loved the car. I drove it home and it’s in my driveway now.

SWEEEEEEET

ive come very close recently to leasing another one ... we had a 2013 ... just wanna try something different

a 2017 base car (which is what i would call loaded) can be had for <$4K for a 2 year lease with 20K miles which is totally adequate ... just stupid cheap.

yea, i like the white and look forward to more pics including the interior

Yes, I was wondering what that was. Noise cancelling technology... cool!
The car is surprisingly quiet. The stock 18" Continental tyres add to a very quiet and comfortable ride.

Anyway, for the handful of you who may be interested, this is a lovely car that I'm thoroughly enjoying. If you're not afraid to get on the accelerator, the car performs well. Handling is very good. The interior is upscale "European" design. Seats are darn comfortable, but perhaps a narrow fit for modern Americans. Materials and fit and finish are outstanding IMHO.

For someone like me who is a diehard Toyota fan, it takes a lot to praise another manufacturer's car, let alone buy/lease it.

MSRP: $25290.

24 month Lease: Drive off fees (including DMV and first month's payment) = $1000.
23 payments @ $140 (including taxes) = $3220.

Purchase option at lease end: $16438.

Congrats on the Buick Encore. If I was going to purchase an 'American Brand' auto (or even a Crossover vehicle in general), that would probably be the one also (since I can't get past the styling or certain other things on its competition). I hear it's one of the better ones - probably because it's made by European Opel Automobiles for Buick.

I'm sure glad that I'm not in the market to buy a car for another 3 years or so. There literally isn't a single vehicle rolling off the production lines today for the U.S. market that really excites+interests me, whether it be due to styling, type of vehicle, manufacturer of vehicle, annoying (to me) features, lack of certain important (to me) features, etc. That even includes the luxury brand car lines. How depressing. If I totalled my Yaris tomorrow, I would be out there scrounging up another low-mileage good-condition used/new 2015-2017 Yaris SE (in anything but red probably, lol).

I can't find a car that ticks all the boxes. Until I saw this car. Toyota Chaser.

It has enough to make it a serious contender.

RWD
1jay Z engine.
Toyota Soarer with 4 doors.
Would be a neat sleeper.
Camry family size sedan.
BMW front end look.
Manual..

I think i have found the car that is close to what i want. Big enough for a family car. Fast enough on the twisties and straights.

Wow; that was fast. Must have been a clean Camry and priced to move. Bitter sweet, but congrats anyway.

Historically, I haven't been a fan of american cars and I realize different strokes move the world, but it's so hard for me to appreciate someone not being excited/interested in the performance, practicality and versatility of the Focus RS. It would bring me back to american motors in a heartbeat (probably because it's built in Germany lol).

Nice! Don't remember you mentioning you were in the market for a new ride, with the exception of having mentioned a front end swap of your Yaris with a newer model. Congrats. Is this for the wifey? Does this mean that there is a possibility of lows in the near future for your Yaris?

^^^ My wife doesn't enjoy driving the Camry like I do. Too bad. So, we went shopping for a car she would like to drive, and we hit on the Buick Encore. This car will replace my Camry... which is for sale as of this morning.

I guess I've got my Yaris back! Not sure about lowering yet, but it will be a future consideration.
