The head is back on with the new cams installed. A few hours in the AM and it should be ready to run.

I got it as a complete unit from our engine guy... Just had to pull the cams back out to put in the head bolts.

Returned the new wheels. Just going to stick with the 15"s. I wish we could have made it work with the 13"s - the wheels actually worked, it was an issue with the manufacturer that we could not get past.

Yeah, big cams make idle go to crap usually on a stock ecu. IIRC you're tuned via piggy back right? Might be time to retune with more air being sucked into the engine... but yeah, start with timing, go from there. Also, we need moar pictures!!

Currently we are stock with a Camcon, which wont do what we need now. We have a custom stand alone setup being built right now - sort of stand alone, we will still have the stock ECU for a few things.

Just finished all the body work, no time to check the cams yet. But it looks done for our shoot. Headed here in about 12 hours: http://wikimapia.org/16838231/San-Be...rations-Center

Doing a small feature for Toyota Connection magazine.

This will also give me a place to break in the engine and LSD.

I am just not sure this new aero package will make the car faster.

The magic... When they are done it will look like the Yaris was going 100mph, instead of 1" a sec.

Got some miles on the engine and trans.

Double checked the cam timing and everything is lined up. Our engine guy is convinced the stock ECU just cant deal with it. Fingers crossed that we get our custom harness and new engine management this weekend.

It is a great day when the UPS man brings you a package you never ordered. One of our sales guys mentions the Yaris project to one of his advertisers a few weeks ago, and they built us a set of brake pads to try.

Jason, being able to set your idle might help. I have mine at 1100, I'm not sure the stock setting would work for me either.

No, there did not seem to be enough people interested to make it worth doing. So we just went back to flares on stock fenders.

"an issue"?

PM me the details, maybe I'll pick them up.

I won't go into detail about why we chose not to use them, or who we got them from at this time. I am certain in your position you see first hand how dealing with the wrong manufacturer can be bad for business.

Any time we do something for use in the magazine we have to decided if we would spend our own money on the product/service/etc, and would we recommend this to someone else... The answer to both of these questions became no.

Personally I hate not using them. The 13" wheel/tire package was going to do so many good things, better gearing, lower CG, less weight. Ultimately I believe not having them will slow us down some at the Runoffs. But it is to late to do anything about it now, and ultimately you have to draw the line somewhere.

On a happier note... Last night I pulled out the CamCon and associated wiring, and got the stock harness all patched up. I can now plug in our recently delivered custom plug-n-play harness for our new engine management. Going to get it tuned tomorrow.

We have also scheduled the first installment on the Yaris to go in the Oct issue of SportsCar, which we are working on right now.
