great info - thanks for everyone who provided photos and information.

I just wanted to hear from anyone in Australia who has added cruise control to their Yaris? From what this thread seems to indicate, the actual ECU on the Australian Yaris' are not able to have cruise control functioning. Therefore am i correct in my assumption that you have to "tap" into a speed control or sensor wire somewhere for Australian Yaris'? Does the instrument panel still have the cruise control indicator on the Australian models?

I'd love to be able to just get this working on my Yaris YRX 2010 (NCP91R) automatic - preferably the kit shown here and not some other random aftermarket kit. Any helpful points would be great.

p.s i did a search on "YARIS cruise control Australia" but didn't find the answers I was looking for.

thanks!

hello i have a toyota corolla axio fielder 2007 , read your diy i think you have done an outstanding job , i was wondering if i could install CC in my car , the ECM looks the same however the spiral connector where the horn blue wire goes in is slightly wider and has only one connection on the inner side , that means how should i connect the cruse wire onwards to D3, i also have taken pics of ECM, steering area etc how can i attach it in the forum or maybe email them to you . The question would be how would i know that the ECM slot no 40 of my car is for CRUISE CONTROL ??

Many Japanese market vehicles do not support cruise control. The presence of only two male pins on the steering column end of the D3 connector tells me that your Fielder likely does not.

Since the car is built with a spiral cable that does not have enough wires to support cruise control, it is unlikely that the ECM is programmed for it.

In doing a bit more research on the Axio Fielder, the ones with the same engine as the Yaris (1NZ-FE) do not support cruise control, but the ones with the 2ZR-FE engine do.

Hey CTScott,

maybe it is again a stupid question about the cruise control in the european Yaris XP9.
I read that you have not found any model in the EWDs which has CC built in.

Pointing to the above quote I post it to clarify for myself. Because all my trials on the net gave only answers for the smaler engine types.

In my case it is the TS 1.8 (2ZR-FE engine) with the ECM 89661-52F30. So far as I could investigate built only for Europe and Japan.
Additional: This car was only built in Japan, so maybe this is a chance to have CC programmed.

If it won't be in I am going probably with the ROSTRA 250-1873. The European solution will be more than double priced (waeco magicspeed ms-880).

Thanks for your work here it is an outstanding platform with a lot of useful stuff.

Yes you can. You will just need to do an extra piece (adding the connector D3 pins and running the wire from them to the ECM connector).

Dear Scott,

First of all received your wires 2 weeks ago and as I was out of state was only able to install everything yesterday. My car being a Thailand build Camry 2.0 was quite tight under the dashboard. It works like a charm.I am now happily crusing on my Malaysian highways.

Thanks a million Scott for all the info I needed to make this happen....

Doesn't cruise control usually consume more gas than without it? I would probably start falling asleep if I had it on for too long

First of all thank you CT Scott for such helpful guide, I did it to my 06 PR spec Yaris and its been working like a charm for 6 months, I just have a question, Can I use a US S spec cluster (2010) to have the indicators working? I just ordered one from ebay.

Unfortunately the indicator will not work unless you also upgrade the ECM to a 2009 or newer one as well.

I offer an indicator module, which can be used with 06-08 Yaris, which lack the cluster indicator. See my cruise control DIY below for more info on it.
