Where is Oahu?
|
Yes, from what i can see on my car, i don't see any other difference. If you want to go with the sport option, I would go with it unless you want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on some other body kits, which I may end up doing later. But for now, I'm waiting on my air runners :)

thanks ... now that i'm pretty sure there is no difference i'll probably go with the kaminari body kit. it looks pretty nice... might have to find a different rear lip though as i'm not really digging the kaminari one.

lol... i thought FINDING a body kit would be the tricky part. called around all day looking for a body shop that would paint and install a body kit and none of them wanted to go near it. all of them pretty much told me body kits never fit right and are too big a pain in the arse. is this true? is the fitment usually that bad on these kits? also whats the price range i'm looking at for having a body kit painted and installed? that's why i was calling around today but i couldn't get an estimate from anyone since nobody would put one on.

Get the factory aero kit for the 09. it comes available for 3 or 5 door. Pictures dont really do it justice but i think it looks great in person. the front end for the 09 is different than the 08 headlights are different as well as bumper, grill and fog lamps including housing. Plus factory kits always fit the best and wont damage your cars existing bumper covers should you decide to remove it later. Here's mine
sorry for the poor quality it's from my iphone |

yeah i like the YRX... not sure how to get it though and not sure if it fits the US model.
i'd get the OEM body kit but i can't. they don't sell it that way so i'd just be ordering each individual part from the factory and it's hella expensive. i checked. |

Would the '09 tail lights work over here too? If I'm not mistaken they changed the shape a bit for this year.
If it's not too much trouble, I'd be forever in your debt if you could swing a set of those :D |

Nah, just double checked, they're shaped differently, cause the rear bumpers changed shape a bit as well for 2009.

from what i can tell bumper and tail lights are shaped exactly the same... only difference in appearance is these...
EDIT: in fact i am pretty sure everything is the exact same dimensions and shape except for the bottom front... 2007 2009 - also has those faux panels like on the back bumper... not sure what those are about |

Actually, the heads and tails are different. The headlight have the dent where the hood and bumper meet. The taillights, on the rear side, taper in as they meet the bumper, so they stick out about 1/2" less on the 09 than on prior years at the point where they meet the bumper.

hmm... i don't see it. they look the same to me... you are probably right though. still i'm less interested in the lights and more in getting a body kit. thanks for the info nonetheless.

well i was tired of looking at my yaris sans body kit so i said screw it and ordered the kaminari kit for my 09. got the kit yesterday and the back and side skirts are looking like they'll fit but the front i'm not so sure. it's looking like i'm gonna have to pop those black fog light cover things out for sure or cut the lip to fit around them. hoping to take it in tuesday to a body shop that does custom work and see if they can make it fit with a little modification. although it's urethane so i'm wondering how feasible that is.
anyway i thought this little experiment might prove useful to my fellow 09 owners. i will keep you posted. |
