The type of track events I take the Yaris too are not drift events, they are grip events. It's very difficult to drift a front wheel drive car on tarmac. In gravel it's another story I have been known to use the e-brake to whip the car around 180 deg though Drum brakes actually do a nice job of locking up the rear |

Second gear usually revs up so high it scares me and I can't gather my balls up enough to grab the e-brake. This cars a riot.

You can place some plastic lunch trays under the rear wheels for practice

I must say even in standard trim, it's not a bad car to got a thrashing on the track. Apart from the need for a LSD (left foot braking to hold the spinning wheels maybe??), it's quite adequate to pull respectable times on twisty tracks when you compare it to other cars that have more power and some suspension modifications.

I agree with the last comment.
In a greek track, a 1.3lt Yaris did the same lap time with a car that had the same weight and 100 more hp.

Good stuff man, always good to see our little cars on track
What times were you running compared to the other "slower" cars? |

Generally, the setup of the Yaris helps it to turn better than more expensive cars!
Thanks for your kind words.

It is all driving, cause a friend of mine gave me some extra useful advices.
Since the last time that I was on track, have only installed a CAI.I use my regular road tires, but I increased the pressure from 30psi to 38psi(front) and 35psi(back).

Why increase the tire pressure? I'm guessing it's to keep car from ridding on it's sidewall? And, less pressure in the back to keep the rear end planted... |

That sounds about right... since he's probably using an all season type tire lowering the pressure won't do much for grip and upping the pressure will probably help reduce the sidewall flex more. If you run a sticky street tire or an R-compound you will usually do the opposite and lower the pressure to compensate for the added pressure when the tires get hot.
