CTScott: the top picture is the unit that came with the Echo hatchbacks when we had them in Canada. I had that unit, it is made by Fujitsuten. It should not br AUX port compatible.
Apparently, the 7 pin plug is for the CD changer.. or cassette tape. |

I haven't gone in to actually look at one in the store, but I believe it plugs directly into the FM antenna jack on the back of the radio. Hey CTScott, I have this stock HU in my car: Do you know if it's capable of working with the auxiliary jack? I bought the jack part a few months ago, plugged it in to the wiring, and didn't get quick plug and play results with my iPod classic. I put it on the backburner since I have a wireless FM transmitter. Never did revisit it and get it working... Since the topic has come up again, I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance. For some reason I can't find any info on the 08600-xxxxx radios, other than they seem to be mid 90's vintage radios. I wonder if the cars with these were "radioless" from the factory, and then either the port or the dealer threw in old radios that were collecting dust?

you probably have a 6 cd changer?
None of the silver faced mp3 capable are aux compatible. Shoot.. mine is not aux capable either. CTScott: I believe all of the Yaris radios in Canada are dealer installed. this is mine #8600-01000 |

Nope, I definitely don't have the 6 CD changer one.
It looks basically like the one you posted, but all silver. As seen in the somewhat blurry cellphone pic: |

weird.. this unit looks butt ugly on a sedan :P It's easier on the eye with the black HU. but this confirms my thoughts... The radio is dealer installed. That's why we all have all those different kind of radios.
anyways. back to topic... definitely not AUX capable with yours. If it was somehow aux capable, you would have an AUX button on the unit. |

Heyyy.. I kinda like the silver :) Fits in nice with the rest of the trim.
I know it doesn't have the AUX button on the front, but I was hoping the stereo might still have the parts inside to use the function if it was activated somehow. I was thinking of something similar to how the stereo recognizes the 6 CD changer and functions by pressing DISC multiple times. |

Dave: Were you able to get your stereo working with an auxiliary input?
I have the same stereo unit as you. Can anyone else confirm for certain whether or not this stereo will work with an auxilliary input? Thanks in advance. |

It doesn't look promising for that model.
I have an 08 USDM black HU and the AUX jack/cable for sale in this thread: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21881 |

Precisions on 08600-00980 radio for Canadian Toyota Yaris 2006 & aux port
A few weeks ago, I bought a Canadian Toyota Yaris 2006 with a 08600-00980 radio (see pictures attached taken by spryguy007) and I can confirm this:
1. The unused connector *is* a 12-pin connector, i.e. one 7-pin row + one 5-pin row (the picture was obviously taken from an angle, that's why we can't see the 5-pin row); 2. I have easily managed (plug and play procedure!) to get an aux adapter working with this radio. The one I use is "BlitzSafe TOY/AUX DMX V.1" (there are others available out there; you just have to make sure that the adapter you buy is compatible with the old Toyota 12-pin connector type, i.e. 7-pin+5-pin.) Once the adapter is connected, the "CD-TAPE" button allows to switch to the AUX adapter, with which you can use any Ipod, MP3 player, etc. Hope this helps. |

Hi guys
Very interesting thread. I have fujitsu 08600-00997 cd stereo, with D74 aux connector at the back, and there is a jack plugged in with all the wires connected to the pins used by aux input (17,15,16,19) according to the manual. The problem is that I can't trace the cable, and there is no aux jack next to emergency brake (I popped plastic covers and there is nothing there). Does anybody know if this model actually supports aux input (no buttons on front panel) |

I'm assuming that you have yaris sedan model right?
I have 2007 sedan and i found my aux jack at the back of the audio harness bundle, it's located behind the panel where aux input jack. So from the HU follow the harness bundle reach your hands down and in aux jack in taped and wrapped with the wire bundle. Just cut off the tape then you will see the aux jack there. |

I have the 08600-00980 like a couple other people here. (08 Canadian LB Yaris) I took it out and loose in behind the radio is the same connector that has the stock aux plug attached to it. Is there anyway that I can plug that in to the this radio?

Does it look like there are any unused plugs on the radio? At this point, if it fits, then give it a whirl and see if it works. Can't hurt

I've got the same unit as spryguy. Has anybody successfully attached an aux jack? That would be sweet!!
