The Fiesta is very impressive to drive - I've driven both the Zetec (sports) version and the base model, and they have a lot of get up and go. They sit well on the road, and there's noticeably less body-roll than the Yaris. The base model Fiesta is considerably more expensive than a base model Yaris, however - With the CL Fiesta selling for around $18,500 whereas the YR Yaris is around $15,990 over this way. Only thing to take into consideration there is the difference in engine capacity..

That being said, I hope to stick with Toyota as long as they make good, reliable cars and I wouldn't consider trading my Yaris for a Fiesta til I see what Toyota brings out as the next gen Yaris in a couple of years time.. Or (here's hoping) the iQ comes to Australia.

Personally, I don't really see that much of a similarity between the two. The Jazz has had only minor exterior changes in the past nine years, whereas this was a complete overhaul for Ford. And given the timing, the face-lift Fiesta and the Jazz were both released mid-2008, and both were released around Sept/Oct 2007, with the Ford Verve appearing virtually unchanged. But that's my 2c!

To further prove my point about Ford's unprecedented turnaround, here's J.D.'s new 2010 quality study. Although I certainly place more importance on long term reliability, this study still carries weight and just goes to show where Ford is today.

Yup, between Lexus and Honda! Lexus has topped this study more than any other nameplate. Toyota plunged way down to #20 near Chrysler! No doubt though, in response to Toyota's recent recall woes. People probably tried to look for problems with all the hype around.

We get the Euro spec over here, with left hand indicators, etc.

Actually, the Ford Ka (new Euro version) is also very nice, it's produced with the Fiat 500..! Same styling cues as the Fiesta, just smaller.

Haven't driven the Fiesta yet, but Ford does seem to be showing signs of not sucking.

They just killed Mercury. That's a start. Put that old geezer bullsh!t out of its misery.

The new Fusion and Taurus actually look decent too.

The Focus is still complete trash, but maybe the Fiesta will take some of its market share if it's any good. Looks good on paper, and has some of that European pedigree that might make it better than some of the domestic ATTEMPTS at small cars.

Ford is one of the Automakers that is doing things right, in my opinion. They are the only domestic car I would consider buying.

If I hadn't bought a Yaris, Ford or Honda would have been candidates.
But at the time Toyota had a few of things Honda and Ford didn't have.

I concur. Honestly, I think that if I had to replace either one of our cars tomorrow, I'd buy another Yaris. I know my way around it, love the mileage, and like the aftermarket support. Plus, I like the way it looks.

The Fiesta is a great little car; I'm sure the reliability will be very good, too. This should prove to be a very popular car for Ford.
