ok made a bit of progress , started sound deadening the doors, inside and out, covered all service holes (used that plastic sheeting that real estate agents use for their signs- waterproof and light), another nice surprise was the yaris had cables insted of push rods for the mechanism - easy to seal, although i did go over the wiring - hoping never to hve to access it
I thought long and hard at housing the midbass in custom made kickpanels , but the work needed is a bit beyond what i want to take on at the moment, you see being rhd the accel pedal is hard right against the kickpanel and leaves barely any room. The door opening is at the lower front, near where the kickpanel is anyway just need to get the axis/angle right with an angled spacer , there is quite a bit of room between the door card and the door metal, although these oz's are a good 3" deep! |

SQ, remember his car is ass backwards. lol! The steering wheel is on the wrong side. That means his gas pedal would be real close to the kick. Very neat job on the Dynamat but you need to do the area where the speaker mounts. On mine I built wood adapters and screwed/siliconed them to the door. Then I covered the entire door skin in Hushmat.

My speakers sound awesome in my doors. I know kicks would sound better but most people don't want to spend the $$ it takes to do them and I use my car daily as a demo car for my shop. It is nice to see the look on people's faces when you tell them they are listening to 2 6 1/2" speakers in the factory locations, 2 tweeters and 2 10" subs. They can't believe it. I know my car couldn't compete with SQ's but it does sound killer. The equipment is important but the install is more important.

Ok the subwoofers are mounted onto the box - 1.5 cu ft per chamber , and i stuffed them with polyfill ..... I wonder if i should do the subs inverted?
also the angle is about 45 degrees facing the rear glass, what do you think , or should they face rear? Dammit the there isnt much room in the back, ok the lrx amps are compact but i dont see where im goin to mount them? |

after much thought and tossing up between the rear seat or the cavity that located where the rear speakers are, i know its a bit daring but might give it a shot, the only thing concerning me, how hot to the audisons get and do they have a loud fan?

i suppose if im in the car driving and its a hot day, i will have the aircon going, thus cooling the amps too.

Well alright! Everything went well!
Measured, measured twice, and a third time! And the i started cutting , i thought a would need a saw , but a utility knife with a new blade was like cutting through butter and more accurate! There is some metal sheet underneath that held the rear speakers in place, and that stopped the amps from completely flush mounting, i might remove that in future , but for now it sits level with all 4x mounting points solidly mounted on mdf plank and that solidly mounted to the inside metal frame. I very happy how it turned out, the only thing the left side amp the logo is upsidown, apparently you can swap the panel over. All the controls are facing the front of the car for easy adjustments , signal cables go along the drivers side , and power cables along passenger. The only other touch up is to get some rubber trimming around the edges of the panel. |
