Filterless in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Yes I have no filter. Geeze. I popped the glove box the first day I had my Yaris, March 30, 2007, and marvelled at how clean my interior air will be, never verifying the presence of said filter. Tonight I just ran out and pulled the cover just like your guys have, and, no filter. Harmful, nope, I ride a motorcycle. Misleading, slightly. Thank you for mentioning this.

i opened my a/c filter compartment to copy the exact MODEL # from the Purolator filter i use : it is C38188------------as i wrote it is basically "oem fit" but i trimmed ca. 1/16 of an inch of the plastic lip ( front and back, i.e. along the "short side") to prevent buckling when the door with two pins is closed. then i applied black electric tape to the front mounting to enhance air tightness and to limit the filter's movement. i do not recommend " the poor man diy replacements" as those filtering elements have much bigger pores - the one i installed is one-directional , one micron element and it was chemically treated with antibacterial/antifungal agent.....
even if it costs $ 12 and i change it monthly, the expense will be negligible in comparison with current ( let alone future) gas prices, and the health benefit is substantial.

I cant say for sure why the yaris doesn't have one but I can tell you that on the Tc they had them but they actually had a cooling problem with them in there, so Toyota opted to just take them out. No official word from Toyota that I've heard but this could be the same with our Yarii

WRONG, the tc NEVER HAD them at all!!!! it specifically says they do not use one due to cooling issues. but we have installed then at customer's request.

Never? Then why does it have the spot for it? It was designed to have it originally but they had issues. You dont think they could have come to this conclusion before the car hit the market. Dont act like I dont know what I'm talking about with your WRONG and NEVER HAD. Fact of the matter is if the car NEVER had one they wouldn't know there were cooling issues. So how am I wrong? please explain.

+1 on above post, he gets it.

so was it a problem that they tested with one type of filter? was any info released or something substantial to make me not want to put a filter in?

so there is no use in going to the dealership to complain about the lack of the filter and trying to get one for free?

Base hatchback model without A/C has the filter from factory here in Canada. But the filter is so thin, I decided to add a towel on cabin the air intake (under the hood)

My 07 LB is sans filter.

I bet this same system is retrofit to several different models and depending on options/price point you receive the filter.

I wonder what kind of response we would get if we e-mailed Toyota?

Can one of the resident computer wizards throw together a form letter that would could add our perspective names too?

The best piece I have found so far is $25.00.

It looks like Bosch actually makes some nice cabin air filters (charcoal & particulate), but no listing yet
