But then complain about how it lacks a tach, even though I've test driven one before I bought it. |

I get it... but barring any empirical data that says draining 3.900 quarts will provide longer, more reliable engine life than 3.884 quarts, I say the time is wasted... Maybe I have an understanding of the fact that everything in contact with the oil is going to have a film of the oil on it, and there will be small collections of oil in various points... maybe in a perfect world you could get all the oil out of the oil pan with extraordinary patience, but you're not going to get it out of the engine without some positive or negative pressure system connected. I've never personally broken down an engine into its component parts but I'm willing to bet that anyone who has, found oil in the engine somewhere.

Like I said, I'm not arguing Jiffy Lube any more. Its your car. Just don't read all the horror stories about wrong fluids and such. I'll continue getting a cheaper, and better(however marginally it may be) oil change. pour it in a jug from the last oil change and take it down to kragen |

i change my own oil, but some people fail to add in the time it takes to purchase your oil and filters(i'm cheap and usually drive around to a couple places for the best deal) and taking your oil somewhere to have it properly disposed of. you don't have to do this everytime, obviously, but just saying that it's not fair to compare a quick change place to doing it yourself without adding in this 'time' factor. anyways, i usually do save money because i like to use synthetic, nice filters, and always look for the best deals.

Man. A legit point on the other side of the spectrum. Why can't forum debates be like this? |

My Toyota dealer charges $19.95 for their oil changes. That is where I go, it is $22.xx after taxes :) I love it.
