I'm just done trying to give advice. This isn't the right place to talk about this though. PM me if you have more questions. I'm not going to hijack this thread.

Ok ive wired everything up, ran 0 guage up throught the firewall , found a massive gromet where the main harness comes through, there are s ome rubber nipples ( lol its the only way to describe them) around that grommet , punched a screwdriver through one of them and the 0 guage went straight in, then ran it behind the kickpanel and under the seal , stinger distro block then splits 2x very short runs of 4 awg( less than 3 ft ) to the amps.
The earths i was lucky to find a solid bolt that hold some other wires behind the quarter panel right next to where the amps are mounted on either side. Ive dressed the amps with that rubber surround like i previously mentioned and i must say it looks quite sharp. The crossovers i conveniently screwed into the glove box, lol the yaris has 3x so i dont think i will miss it. Ran all the wires making sure not to cross over power cables with RCAs. I havent ran a 0 guage from the battery earth to the body or from the alternator to the battery yet, but i will as soon as i organise my yellowtop battery. Turn the ingnition switch ( the first time always makes me nervous) and everything lights up! Fantastic :) And we have sound Now just with velcro tested the tweeters out in various positions, first i tried at the bottom of the apillars - not too bad soundstage wasnt wide enough though, next i tried up deep in the dash firing up at the windscreen - meh vocals sounded nasaly, then i tried up on the door near the controls - no good tweeter too close harsh, finally tried the kickpanel - soundstage quite low not happy , finally i tried right on the floor right Where the kickpanel ends and the carpet starts, firing up 45 deg towards the rearview mirror- wow fantastic! Big wide open soundstage, vocal tones where spot on, percussion sounds fantastic, the highs sparkle and the kickbass hits you in the chest like a hammer! The only thing i can see as a problem when i have passengers , will they step on the tweeter ? Not that im worried about damaging it ( its got a strong metal grill) but blocking the sound with their feet... Hmmmm Anyway pics to follow shortly. |

Good progress!
Also when you run passive x-overs the closer the tweeter to the mid-bass speaker the better, in some components they tell you in the instructions to install your tweeter withing 12 inches from the bigger speaker. Yeah post some pictures! D.

after listening to the system for a few days now, i am still not 100% happy with the sound.... most people that have heard it have remarked " whats wrong with you , that sounds fantastic!", and it is almost there just not quite, i want it to be wow!.
First problem is when passenger gets into the car and legs get in the way, it does lose a bit of the sparkle in the top end. Second thing is i think im missing out on some of the upper midrange, due most likely to the mids being in the doors off-axis , when i lean forward and put my head right infront of the air-con controls it seems perfect ! :) So this means that you guys where right that kickpanel mids would bring the them on axis.... unless i angle the spacers in the door say 30-45 degrees and get the speakers firing towards each opposite headrest or there abouts. |

That's why I have my mids and tweets almost at eye level in a horizontal plane on the a-pillars, I know I have a different system, but keep trying you'll get it! Trial and error has been my best friends.
