Soon... :)
Whenever I can find some time off from work. Lately, I've been swamped. This time it's going to be back to back runs on the same day to get an apples to apples comparison. I still need to work on adapting the BLOX velocity stack intake to eliminate the 90 degree bend while still fitting in the available space. I already have the new design down, and the raw materials have arrived, but I still need to find the time to cut and fit everything together. |

Are you using a 1ZZ throttle body now for everyday driving? How's that working out?

Can't believe I had missed this thread. Awesome job Tooter. I have a Weapon R intake manifold, and a Gude bored out T/B if ya want to add it to your dyno test pulls. :) Probably going to have to purchase the DIY kit from you seeing as how I have a 1ZZ manifold laying around....and a turbo waiting to go onto that. Would be interesting to once and for all "expose" what some of these parts do. Thanks to all for the great read!

I'm going to be doing back to back stock manifold/tooter dyno runs on the same day this coming week if I can get off of work. The tooter Do-It-Yourself kits are available for $250 +$12 shipping. ...and you can build your own. If you are interested you can either PM me here, or call 310-455-3340, or email me at: greggabi@verizon.net Last edited by tooter; 11-17-2012 at 01:53 PM. |

Doh! Realized after I re-read what I posted that I didn't mean to sound like I was trying to dump testing costs on you....sorry. When I get back from this tour I'll touch base with you on the purchase. I can gear up on my end and test both manifolds with/and without turbo. My personal taste is gonna be polishing that beast. Thanks again for some great brain food!
Greetings from a place in the world where everyone hates us. :) |

Didn't know you're in the Military. I did a tour in 'nam so I know what it's like. Keep safe and come home in one piece. Polished would look super. With those shiny pipes snaking around, your engine will look like a formula 1 racer. Take Care, Greg |

Your tooter sure does look purty.
I wouldn't mind having one of those to spruce up my, otherwise plain engine bay. No money for it tho. LOL |

That's ok. chaotic... it's always better to live within our means.
I came up with a way to fit the BLOX velocity stack air filter assembly onto the tooter without needing the 90 degree bend connector. First I got some aluminium pipe which is 6 inches outside diameter from a really cool place called: intakehoses.com Then I cut off a 2 inch section and glued it to the backside of the velocity stack... then slipped the assembly inside the air filter... And it's all done... Gonna go put it on the engine now... |

Not in the military any more, just flyin' them supplies....and unfortunately sometimes the fallen hero's home.
On a lighter note, I always have room for some more sparkling things. Note to self, buy large aluminum chain so wife can wear some of this bling. :) |

Oooh... shiny.
Since I've had the cabinet, everything gets stainless steel bead blasted. Does your XB have a 1.5 or a 1.8? And what kind of aircraft do you pilot? Greg |

I enjoy coming up with nonordinary outside-the-box solutions. Once the idea came to me, the real challenge was trying to find outside diameter pipe. Most all pipe is sized by inside dimensions. However engine intake pipes go by even outside measurements. That website intakehoses.com has all the specialized raw materials to build your own custom designed air intakes as well as intake manifolds. Now that there's a reliable source of materials, I'm already thinking up other ideas to try out.

I'm a 747 cargo flying tech....I slap pilots when they get stupid. Ego's incorporated.
Love the smoothness of that intake flow. Nice find! Modding the 1.5 up to a 1.8, sigh, dreamin'. Last edited by jetblast; 11-19-2012 at 09:33 AM. |

Just finished bead blasting the throttle body adaptor and the MAF tube so that everything matches now...

I know on extremely hot days my (heat transferring aluminum) Weapon R intake manifold drops power, but I still like the look. As far as looks go, that project you finished looks smokin'. Thermodynamic efficiency aside, even Toyota/Scion would admit that's one sweet looking motor. Nice job!!!!
