[QUOTE=voodoo22;269144]driver position was so much better in the sedan QUOTE]
thats a valid point. the driving position in the hatchback was what ultimately made me trade for the 09 corolla. i could just never get a comfortable position. i got the 09 corolla for $14900 after cash back, so it was a no brainer vs the yaris sedan. im betting the next gen yaris will have a telescoping steering wheel and the center gauges will be history |

I didn't even consider the sedan, and have only learned about it and its looks from this forum. To me it just looks like every sedan out there. The reason I chose the hatchback was for its look.. its my first purchased car and I wanted something different- I am so happy I got it, it looks different sitting there in a parking lot in a sea of big boring cars. If I ever needed a sedan, I prob wouldnt go for the yaris though.. prob something more expensive.
But right now, I don't transport anyone other then myself so I love the hatchback. The glove boxes everyone mentions.. well, the top one in front of the passenger seat is empty! I don't know what to put in there, and when I put some CD cases in there, it wouldn't even close... wish they made it a tiny bit deeper to be more practical. I love the one in front of the driver's seat though- keep my GPS and garage door opener out of site but right at my finger tips! |

I owned a Ford Escort wagon and so I fell in love with hatchbacks and didn't care as much for sedans. I really wanted a Matrix but it was out of my means and so settled for the Yaris LB. With a rear hatch, it just seems to have better access and so not have to bend down to get the goods.

Sedan all the way that is until they introduced the 4 door hatchback this year. If the 4 door hatchback had been available I would have gotten one but enjoy my sedan with its trunk and other goodies.

I rented a hatch the other day for a work road trip. It was a good refresher for me in the differences between the two vehicles. I had forgotten how the shorter wheelbase on the hatch makes it more responsive feeling and more fun to drive, but I had also forgotten just how much worse the wind noise and stability of the car is on the hwy. I also had forgotten how the driving position in the hatch gives me a leg cramp and makes it harder for me to see the dials which I am looking more down on.
I still like the looks and feel of the hatch more for pure fun, but the sedan is much more comfortable and better handling for me on the hwy. If we needed a car just for city driving, the hatch would win hands down, but since we do mostly long hwy trips the sedan is still the better choice for us. Too bad, because we both still really like the looks and low speed handling of the hatch a lot more. |

lol @ this thread. Lets call each other names because we drive cars that are 5% different.
Grow up. If you think you're better than anyone because you drive a LB instead of a sedan, or vice versa, let me find a short pier for you to take your superior automobile for a long drive on. FWIW - a "chick" car where I live is an H2. Get your woman on. |

I actually started out mostly interested in a LB, but when I looked at them side by side, I realized that the sedan was far more practical for carrying things like guitars and amps, rifles and shooting gear. I wasn't as worried about stuff being stolen out of the car or stuff hitting me from behind in a crash, and it's very practical for 4 adults to ride in with comfortable entry and exit. (The Yaris Sedan really isn't a very small car.) I still think the 3 door LB is cute as a button! I wish the sedan had the extra glove box in front of the driver, too! I also prefer the color choices available for the LB, specifically Absolute Red and whatever they call that bright yellow. But I like the Barcelona Red I've got on my sedan.

I don't see anything wrong with the Camry's looks. But the Yaris sedan doesn't look that much like it anyway, just a family resemblance. I think it looks great.

Lol I could've gotten a way better and cheaper car if I got a sedan (yaris or not). Chose liftback because its special, different and suits me. More features doesn't always equal better, its better because it suits my personality and needs.

Needed the 4 doors of the sedan as I regulary pick up my kids after school. I didn't want to deal with only 2 doors. No 4 door liftback was available in 2008. Even if it was, I still would have bought the sedan as I like having the trunk space.

Sedan. Why? Possible future applications (i.e. family car), more room for people / cargo, 4 doors, and a fairly large trunk. I also love the refined look of the sedan compared to the sorta bubbly looks of the hatchbacks.
I do wish the sedan came with the extra gloveboxes though... I thought that was an awesome feature on the LB models. |
