Six speed
GrassrootsMS had posted the top speed for our transmissions in the top speed thread (146) and i was wondering if anybody had retrofitted, or heard of someone who has, a six speed transmission like the celica gt-s?

for the right price... i could make it happen
the first major hurdle i would say is going to be your axles, I'm not too sure, but you would more then likely need custom axles which are quite expensive. |

the good new is, the clutch could remain the same, both use a 21T spline that is 24.1 mm in diameter

Expensive to some might be very reasonable to others.

haha well... do u have access to a 2zz trans? basically, I did some quick searching, and I couldnt find if the bolt patterns were the same or not, I know that the 2zz and 1zz have the same bolt patterns, and I know that the 1nz and 1zz are very similar in size and components, so it wouldn't suprise me if they just bolted up. the only other situations to be looked at are 1) that the clutch (which fits on the 2zz main shaft) properly engages the main shaft i.e. the splines have enough depth into the clutch assembly 2) the trans is slightly larger i believe, so modifications to the engine bay may be neccessary 3) the main snag i believe may be the axles, since the input side of the 2zz axles would most likely be larger and possibly different splined then the yaris, plus the axles may need to be longer or shorter. If i remember though, I was going to get some custom axles done, and if you supplied them with 1nz and 2zz axles I think they could be made for.... ~$400, not sure though..... and lastly the shift linkages, which should be the easiest task to overcome, but don't quote me on that... basically anything is possible, and if 1 and 2 work out with no modifications, you would be looking at an inexpensive swap.... oh and trans mount, which shouldnt be difficult either... I'd have to see the two side by side, or get some measurements. but its definately do able.
does the 2zz come with an LSD cuz thatd be a cool plus and i also forgot to mention, the slave cylinder setup would have to be on, but if its not... thats easily adjusted |

i had forgot that I was doing custom axles for my own car... I was thinking like driveshaft shops outrageous cost of 1300$

Sounds like a simple solution...but the top speed on the yaris one is probably the same as the five speed...

my guess is itll probably be a c60 maybeeeee i c64, but unlikely which would be a whole lot cheaper bought used out of a celica, then new from a toyota dealer, plus it could technically have the same problem since the engine is dif anyways

drive shaft shop axels for yaris in this thread

well the driveshaft shops are actually the same spline/ diameter, I was told that the easiest way to beef up the axle, is to actually go with a larger outboard side, as thats where they usually snap. I was originally going to get axles made with the yaris inboard side, and do a 5 lug tc swap, and have a tc wheelside axle if that makes sense. I'm not even sure the driveshaft shop makes custom drive axles. they may only sell the ones they have. The reason for the cost being so high, is they used a stronger metal, and all that machining to make those parts is very expensive. It all would come down to where the transmission housing would sit, and if the axle lengths would need to be changed.
