since its been so cold...
How do you make your cocoa???
i take 16 oz of milk, microwave for 3 minutes exactly, scoop out the fat that sits on top. put in 1 envelope of nestle cocoa in. mix 10 stirs counter clockwise then 10 stirs clockwise, until i reach 100 total stirs or cocoa powder is mixed. then pour into mug & enjoy. yea, i know, im very specific.. i also have a cocoa machine i use on occasion, but thats more for those times i add in some peppermint kisses er something...

Ok i think we can officially annoint dvlnblkdrs as the Yariswold Hot Coco guru. :P Are you that particular about most things? I'm not judging, i get like that about lots of stuff i find it refreshing when other people do as well. Onto my coco preperation....While your method sounds yummie, I'm lactose intolerant :( so it also sounds painfull. If i can find a mix without milk i have to add it to hot water or soymilk, or almond milk. Not the way to really enjoy hot coco.

i am indeed that particular with things.. i like even numbers, love to count random things like stairs and yaris on the road.. too much sesame street i guess.. lol
at work i do a quickened version with a scoop of powdered creamer and water... tastes just as good.. well almost.. and less calories too, like 90 cals i believe...

Can't do cocoa but your recipe isn't bad. You sound like you have a touch of obsessive compulsive disorder. Ever consider being an accountant or working with dangerous materials? They pay well and you get rewarded for being so fastidious.
When I could eat chocolate I used to line up M&Ms into shapes and then eat them in a way that I could group the colors in the form of trigonal numbers (1, 3, 6, 10 and so on), even or odd numbers or in some other order. Probably an artifact of being a Math student for many years or something along those lines. I've considered doing a short video with Skittles and showing how it's done but figure that someone would send the men with the butterfly nets after me. Yeah, and I also try to make my car line up with the lines in the parking lot, I check the locks on the doors and have a few other "check" routines". Finally found a job where that kind of behavior is considered good - I work with very high powered stuff and could be fried if I don't check stuff repeatedly. Gene |

try making hot chocolate with soymilk... it'll be way better.. milk taints the flavor of the chocolate.. after drinking soy milk for so long .. i cant stand milk.. it taste metalic and nasty... Humans are the only mamal that will drink milk .. A. past infancy and B. from a different mammal.
you could even use the vanilla soy milk to add some extra flavor. (no fat to skim off the top too :) )

I just find it funny that someone from Hunting Beach, CA is talking about how cold it's been and the need for hot chocolate. It's all relative, I know...but still amusing to me none-the-less. Hot chocolate is a must around here after a day of sledding! And when you're that cold, Swiss Miss with milk is good enough and takes a lot less time. Warming up quickly is the point, with GREAT tasting hot chocolate coming in second. Jill's kind of hot chocolate is more for cuddling up by the fireplace with your sweetie around here. =)

Cold in California, I don't buy that for a second.
Come here where he have snow, and freezing rain. It's so cold here if you have a running nose it will freeze and you'll get snotsicles. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/canb0067

Californians are spoiled as far as cold weather goes...I think we all know that. I can't handle temperatures that drop below the 40's, but then again when does it ever drop below the 40's in Los Angeles? (aside from 4:00 in the morning in the middle of January when the temperature is sometimes known to get into the mid to low 30's)
The cold is relative, I'm sure if I moved somewhere else for a few years where it snows all the time during the winter, I would come back here and think everyone are whiney pansies, too. And to answer your question, Jill....Swiss Miss is fine with me =P. |

Yes, 60 degree weather in California makes the jackets and jeans come out. 60 degrees in Wisconsin brings our t-shirts and shorts if that temperature occurs during a normally cold part of the year. Honest.
