Intake Question... :/
Yes I know another intake question. I can't decide between AFE, Fujita CAI, or Injen CAI. I'm planning on getting a blitz supercharger this upcomming summer/fall (2010) so I want to start building a good setup for the supercharger.
Are people really having issues with CAI sucking in water in the yaris? |

No. The filter on a CAI is usually located in front of the hard plastic tire shield, so water should not get into your filter at all, unless you drive through a 2' puddle of water. |

AFE.... great intake i have it, more like a short ram with a heatshield, nice fit and finish, good quality piece, plus you don't have to worry about sucking up water

...which I believe is recommeded to be removed if running a S/C.

Read my mind Wee
The TRD's not recommended for use with s/c, there's a risk of some piece of that bypass valve being sucked into the blower... Noogie had to remove his trd cai, maybe Camell also? The one-piece designs dont present that problem. I've heard the subject of hydrolock with a cai come up here before but never read any actual experiences. |

like I said I have 3 that I like for price and performance. My whole thing is, what intake comes in contact with more cold air flow/ more air flow.

But anyway, definitely not the AFE since it's basically a short RAM with a heatshield. |

That's what I was thinking... I was also mainly concerned about water getting into a cai... but I really doubt that now. I am also considering a blitz lm intake, it's about $150-$200

i'll tell you how i picked mine....and you should do the same.
find a good cheap used one with all the parts included. the filters themselves are cheap if it's ruined, and the plastic doesnt go bad....and most bolts, threads, sleeves, mounts, or whatever else is involved can be easily repaired or replaced. why pay 350 bux for a brand spankin new K&N when you can get one used for under a hundred....and most likely have absolutely no problems with it. |

I've had too many problems with TRD CAI. Its coming off as soon as I can afford something better. I'd go with the Injen.

First the bypass filter broke. It cracked in half. Then, somehow, something arced to the lower intake tube and put a gouge in it. I have no idea what it was cause there was nothing electrical in that spot.
