Strange Noise and Iffy Brakes – HELP!

Yesterday I changed out my rear shoes (drum brakes) and hardware. I noticed some brake fluid outside the right rear caliber, but I never opened the system. I’ve been monitoring my brake fluid level and it doesn’t appear to be going down. The car stops, but when I push the pedal I hear, what sounds like a swoosh of air – similar to the sound a bike pump makes when it is blown into the air. The sound appears to be coming the front of the car (I think).

Any ideas of where and what this air sound is?

Also, if I saw brake fluid does this mean that the caliber is faulty?
