oil change question
What oil is everyone using and what filter? I am looking at the trd filter but I am unsure what oil to go with. I need to not void my factory warranty. Thanks for all help in advance.

i used NAPA oil with their Gold oil filter. a lot of people here use Amsoil oil and Wix oil filters (same as NAPA filters). they say stay away from Fram products. try doing a search for topics to get more info.

Im my old Civic that had gigantic gearing and I tended to cruise around 1000rpm and get 5l/100KM (47 US MPG) and in that situation, the synthetic oil was a factor. It's not possible to do the same type of driving in my Yaris (cause engine is at home at higher rpms and the car has shorter gearings), so it's doubtful there'll be any noticeable gains from synthetic oil on fuel consumption. You'd have to really be pushing the limits to see any noticeable difference.

Running 5W-30 Mobil 1 with Toyota filters. Local dealer willing to let me bring in my own oil and they deduct normal oil charge from the cost of the oil change.

Wix/NAPA oil filters
Amsoil 0w-30 engine oil Amsoil ATF Yes the synthetic makes a difference but to really notice it you need to change both engine and trans oil. With my truck I saw an easy 3mpg difference buy switching coolant (evans NPG) Amsoil 0w-30, Amsoil ATF, Amsoil 75w-90 severe gear oil in the differential. With the yaris I'm getting 50+mpg. And that was not changing 100% of the automatic transfluid either, I just drained the pan, measuered what I took out and replced it with Amsoil ATF. Come spring i'll do it again, each time you do that it adds more Synthetic to the mix.

I used trick-shift auto tranny fluid in my old camaro and the stuff worked awsome, kept the heat down, shifted better and didnt aerate.
Im changing the oil in the Yaris today to mobil 1 full syn.(provided I can get a filter)
