Can I use 14 inch wheels in H stock AutoX?
Well, a set of used Hankook Ventus Z214 C71 just rolled into my garage 205/55X14. Wondering if I can use these in H Stock AutoX. My 2009 hatch has TRD rear sway bar and TRD exhaust, that's it. If so, what width and offset is permissible? Thanks.

only the stock width is allowed.
offset has to be within + or - of 1/4" from stock |

here is the wheel rule on page 75 of the 2013 Solo rule book
13.4 WHEELS Any type wheel may be used provided it complies with the following: it is the same width and diameter as standard and as installed (including wheel spacers if applicable) it does not have an offset more than ±¼” (±6.35mm) from a standard wheel for the car. The resultant change in track dimensions is allowed. Tire pressure monitoring sensors may be removed. Wheel spacers are permitted, provided the resultant combination complies with the offset requirements of this section. Wheel studs, lug nuts, valve stems (including pressure-relief types), and/or bolt length may be changed. Vehicles equipped with rims having metric specifications may use alternate rims as determined by using the following procedure: Diameter: converting the metric measurement to inches and using the nearest smaller inch diameter rim. Width: converting the metric measurement to inches and using the nearest smaller ½” (12.7mm) width rim. Offset and track must still comply with the requirements of this section. |

This is probably the best resource for determining what puts you in which class. Keep in mind that these rules are generally only enforced at the regional/national level, and your local events may choose to forgo them.
http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...lo%20Rules.pdf Which means using those wheels puts you in at least STF. |

Thanks for the info guys! So it looks like 14X5.5 with +30 to +40 offset will work. Any recommendations on tire pressures?

I put higher pressure in Garm's rear tires (higher than what he normally runs), and coached him a tad, and he dropped a good amount in some autoX runs. Total of almost 2 seconds on sub 50 sec course. |

Be very careful on R-Compound tires with stock struts and shocks, these tire grip so well they can create bicycling on tighter auto-x courses. Work up to your limits until you are ready for suspension upgrades and you will be much happier in the long run. Also a very good way of checking for proper tire pressure is to put a couple 1"-2" long lines of white shoe polish on the tire shoulders. It's very easy, if your scrubbing the entire line off, then up your pressure, if your not even touching these lines, lower your pressure, it's that simple. Oh and some crash bolts for negative camber in the front suspension from Micro Image, will be a huge improvement!

Yeah I have seen it on several occassions where cars would actually get up on two wheels due to higher grip than suspension could handle. There are lots of videos of it on Youtube, check it out to see what I mean!
Here is one example...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0hTl78eaI8 racerb
