Custom Catback System
Question at hand:
Me and a friend were having a discussion about exhaust kits... And how the Yaris is an axelback, but he says just go with a custom catback. Simply buy a TRD muffler and have a shop build a catback system for it, of course staying with the idea of a high-flow cat. Would the be reasonable, and at what price would i be looking at estimated for a shop to build one? |

You'd be better off getting the whole thing built from scratch. You shouldn't pay any more than 300 or so for a full system. That TRD axle-back will put the price of the job way up there.

Instead of buying the TRD axleback, you could just buy a Borla universal muffler and custom-shop the rest, and have the same thing, for 1/3 the cash.

Well now step two, what muffler would be best for such a small package, I basically have two qualifications for a muffler I would want:
1. It dont sound like a Honda Civic 2. That I doesnt have a 4 inch pipe sticking out 3 inches from the back of the car, just looks silly. Also, What would happen to warranty if you added the exhaust system? |

If you have a midpipe made with a high flow cat it should be between $200 and $400 depending on what type of cat you get. The pipe is pretty simple to bend up, then throw the TRD axleback on. If you go catless it will be $100-$150 for the midpipe.

i had a custom catback made for my GTI (didn't replace the cat itself tho). i had them put on a Magnaflow muffler with a simple twin tip (looks like the VR6 tips). whole thing with install was just $190.

For those of you who stated this above...
if you are going to buy an axle back then replace cat back with something bigger, how about you just give me that money for the cat back instead? you are still going to be bottle necked down to 1.5 at the axle back, to do it right you need to run AT LEAST 2 inch off the resinator ALL the way back to a muffler that has and intake of 2-2.5 inches, but all the axle backs for our car just bottle neck just as bad as the stock right down to 1.5inch pipe |

Me and Chino talked about this yesterday...one of my option is going to a get a custom catback exhaust but I prefer a greddy or some kind of other muffler bcuz TRD's muffler isnt even nice man.
