I am trying to figure out why my SD card works fine in my camera, but my computer will not read it :(

I had to install a new driver once my SD card exceeded 1GB.

the card works fine in my D40, but my computer will not read it.... I already updated drivers

this is a brand new camera, card and card reader being used for the first time
